Six at Hatzook beach on the 20th of witch 4 were trapped (Eli Hoter, Igal SIman-tov et al.)

One at Neot Hakikar on the 20th (Oded Keynan)


Yellow-breasted Bunting Emberiza aureola

A flying and calling bird over alfalfa field at Kfar Rupin on the early morning of the 21st (Barak Granit). Although pattern could not be detected, calls (that were heard severl times), build and structure and flight manner matched perfectly this species. The bird continued south-wards and didn't appear to land. There are 10 accepted national records up to date of this once a least concerned and now an endangered species, 6 of which from September, two from Oct- Nov, one from May and last one - an adult female which trapped, ringed and released on 13.8.2007 at the Hula valley.

Two chummed at sea, at the head of Eilat's gulf, some 10 km south of the North Beach on the 12th (Itai Shani, Rea Shaish et al.) Photo


Swinhoe's Storm Petrel Oceanodroma monorhis

Amazingly, two were seen together with the willsons, (Itai Shani, Rea Shaish et al). The two species record follows the mid september 2016's record of both species from the same spot and may indicate that Willson's (and not only Swinhoe's) may be a regular overlooked species at the gulf too.  Photo

Eleonora’s Falcon Falco eleonorae

One at Ma’ayan Tzvi on the 24th (David Raved), one at Southern coastal plain on the 25th (Gabriel Levitzky) and one at Kfar Hanagid on the 26th (Omer Ben Nun).


Purple Swamphen Porphyrio porphyrio

After The 5 birds from Gan Shmuel on the 20th (David Kotter), some more observations were reported from Ein Hamifratz (Tzvi Hertz) and Ma’ayan Tzvi (David Kotter) on the 26th.


Black-winged Pratincole Glareola nordmanni

Two birds at Yas’ur Reservoir on the 26th (Tzvi Hertz)


Terek Sandpiper Xenus cinereus

One at Ma’agan Michael coast on the 24th (David Raved).


Lesser Grey Shrike Lanius minor

Good numbers of migrants at Hatzuk and Tel Baruch (central israel’s coast ridges) with 98 Red-backed, 14 Lesser Grey and 3 Woodchat Shrikes at Hatzuk on the 25th. Later that morning at Tel Baruch at least 35 Red-back and 30 Lesser Grey Shrikes, 20 of the later were seen perching together.

In addition to the Shrikes attack, Olive-tree Warbler and a juv Black-winged Kite at Hatzuk. (igal Siman Tov)

One off Eilat on the 15th during the monthly Sea-birds and marine wildlife monitoring (Noam Weiss, Yaron Charka and Rea Shaish).

The 'hula bird' was seen again on the 7th (Shai Agmon)

Two, male and female, probably juveniles and only probably belong to that species (vs Peregrine) at first light at Kfar Rupin on the 10th (Barak Granit and Avi Shneor).

One at the Eilat Bird Park on the 8th (Rea Shaish)

The bird at Harod valley, which was seen by many birders on the 5th-6th, seemes to be a 1st summer bird (or 2nd year bird) thus clearly a different individual to the juv seen earlier at Kfar Rupin.

One at the Hula valley on the 6th (Pablo Rudaeff) - probably the same bird seen on the 26th at the Golan Heights.

One at Jerusalem on the 15th (Gidon Perlman). Extremely early vaungard.

One in a group of white storks west of Kfar Rupin, Beit Shean valley on the 9th (Ofir Lotan)


Pink-backed Pelican Pelecanus rufescens

One at Iron tourist lake, Upper Galilee on the 8th. Photographed. It is possible that this is the bird that spent the previous month at En-Hamifratz south of Acre.

And adult seen and photographed at southern coastal plain (Gabriel Levitzky) where the species is now an annual summer visitor in recent years.

A breedign plumage male at LEhavot Habashan, Hula valley, on the 26th (Nitay Hayun et al.). Perhaps the only summer record of any saxicola up to date.
