EILAT BIRDS FESTIVAL 2016
The Eilat Birds Festival is back and 2016 marks our 10th anniversary! We thank our supporters and friends and promise to keep providing birders with the best value package for birding Eilat and southern Israel today!
The Eilat Birds Festival is hosted by the Israel Ornithological Center and is designed to bring together birders from the world over for an unforgettable week of birds, migration and nature during the peak of spring migration.
The 2015 festival was a great week. The event drew a great crowd that ranged from birding professionals of the highest level to amateur birders, both from abroad and from Israel. Festival visitors enjoyed a full program and were joined by the participants of the 2nd Champions of the Flyway race that took place immediately following the festival.
The week produced of birding, combining incredible soaring birds' migration and a great show of local specialties. Some significant birds showed up during the week and rarities such as Caspian Plover, Cyprus and Pied Wheatears, Black Bush Robin and more were seen by festival groups. Local specialties such as Thick-billed and Hoopoe Larks, 8 species of Wheatears and the shy Red-sea Warbler put on a show.
The Stars of the night tour was a memorable night. A stunning Desert Tawny Owl put on a show for our large group and a very confiding Nubian Nightjar even posed for pictures. The special Negev and Nizzana day was memorable with displaying Macqueen's Bustards, 4 species of Sandgrouse many Cream colored Coursers, great soaring birds migration and lot's more.
Following fruitful days in the field the festival groups assembled every evening for a special presentation. The closing evening of the festival hosted an amazing keynote presentation by Hadoram Shirihai and Prof. Yossi Leshem.
The two birding "celebrities" gave us an inside look at their work and the amazing advances in birding and research today. It was an inspiring evening full of humor, talent and of course birds.

One the best thing about the festival is the small size of our groups, so make sure to book your package soon. Follow your instinct and migrate to Israel this spring, and do your part for the birds of Israel as you do.
See you in the field.
