EILAT BIRDS FESTIVAL 2017
19-26 March 2017
The Eilat Birds Festival is back! We thank our supporters and friends and promise to keep providing birders with the best value package for birding Eilat and southern Israel available today!
The Eilat Birds Festival is hosted by the Israel Ornithological Center and is designed to bring together birders from the world over for an unforgettable week of birds, migration and nature during the peak of spring migration.
The 2016 festival was a great week. The event drew a great crowd that ranged from birding professionals of the highest level to amateur birders, both from abroad and from Israel. Festival visitors enjoyed a full program and were joined by the participants of the 3rd Champions of the Flyway race that took place immediately following the festival.
The week produced fantastic birding experiences, combining incredible raptor migration, a great show of local specialties and some good quality rarities.
Significant species that were noted included Black Bush Robin, Caspian Plover and more were seen by festival groups. Local specialties such as Thick-billed and Greater Hoopoe Larks, 8 species of Wheatears and the shy Red-sea Warbler put on a show.
The Stars of the night tour was a memorable night. Desert Tawny Owl played hard to get but eventually came in to view and several Nubian Nightjars were seen during the evening.
The special Negev and Nizzana day was memorable with displaying Macqueen's Bustards, 4 species of Sandgrouse many Cream colored Coursers, great soaring birds migration and lot's more.
The great rains of winter and early spring provided great desert bloom and incredible butterfly migration and excellent mammals such as both Mountain and Dorcas Gazelle, Arabian Wolf and Asian wild Ass provided that extra flavor of wilderness.
UK based WildWings are offering festival packages from the UK.

Check out the daily summaries on the portal from 2016 to get a feel for the event. Please note that in the past years the Eilat festival was sold out early. One the best thing about the festival is the small size of our groups, so make sure to book your package soon.
Follow your instinct and migrate to Israel this spring, and do your part for the birds of Israel as you do.
See you in the field, the Eilat Festival team
