An impressive total of 17 birds including 6 juv at southern Dead Sea and Northern Arava on the 2nd (A. RInot)

One at Shikmona on the 3rd, two more on the 4th at Maagan MIchael and two at Ceasarea on the 4th as well (Hayun, Lamesh and Salonik) 

 

Black-winged Pratincole Glareola nordmanni

One still at Hatzor on the 5th (I. Nissim Moriya) 

 

Bridled Tern Onychoprion anaethetus

1-8 birds daily at Eilat

An unidentified all dark Storm-Petrel (probably Swinhoe's) at Eilat's southern beach on the 29th (A. Rinot)

One at Maagan MIchael on the 28th

Greater Crested Tern Thalasseus bergii

One at Eilat's southern beach on the 29th afternoon (A. Rinot) 

 

The Yellow-billed Kite Milvus aegyptius was still at km 19 on the 29th

Sooty Shearwater Puffinus griseus

One at Eilat on the 26th (R. Shaish). 

 

Yellow-billed Kite Milvus aegyptius

 A coniding adult or near-adult photographed at km 19 sewage works, Eilat on the 27th (S. Shalev). Apparently the bird was already photographed there on the 18th (Y. Charka) but was not confirmed. Less than 5 national records including this one. 

 

Bridled Tern Onychoprion anaethetus

20 on the 26th morning at EIlat (R. Shaish)

 

Also: first Red-necked Phalarope at Eilat and an Olive Tree Warbler at the JBO.

Black-winged Pratincole Glareola nordmanni

Belated news: a suprising juv was well photographed at Yavne on the 18th (D. Sharon, M, Cohen et al.). An extremely early vaungard as the species doesn't appear usually before 2nd week September. ID confirmed. 

 

 

Lesser Crested Tern Sterna bengalensis

17 at Eilat's north beach on the 25th afternoon (S. Shalev). One of the largest flocks to be recorded at Eilat. 

 

 

Bridled Tern Onychoprion anaethetus

40 (again) on the 25th evening (S. Shalev). Imppressive summer for this species.

Long-tailed Skua Stercrorarius longicaudus

One still at the North Beach on the 21th (U. Davidor). Two Pomarine Skuas were there too

9 'only' on the 21st at Eilat (U. Davidor)

Hardly anything to report during the past week with exception of: 

 

Long-tailed Skua Stercrorarius longicaudus

One at the North Beach on the 19th (S. Shalev)

 

Bridled Tern Onychoprion anaethetus

47 birds at Eilat's north beach on the 19th evening - a new Israeli record (S. Shalev).  1-6 birds daily during the past week. Also, one Lesser Crested Tern

 

 

Other than that: 

Wader migration still slow at the med coast with rising numbers of Curlew Sandpipers, LIttle Stints, Little Ring Plovers, Turnstones, tringa sp. an odd Whimbrell several Gull-billed Terns, etc. Although Autumn has officially began the feel is still quite slow.

Two breeding occasions: at least two pairs with young at Ahshalim reservoir, southern Dead Sea (S. Blitzblaow et al.) and two young at different ages at En Hamifratzz on the 10th (Y. Siliky and D. Melamed)

Nine on the 9th and thirteen on the 10th at Eilat's north Beach (R. Shaish et al.)

One at Eilat on the 5th-6th with 5-6 Arctic Skuas and two on the 8th (S. Shalev et al.)

Two at Eilat on the 6th (S. Shalev et al)

Nine at Eilat on the 5th, five there on the 6th and eleven on the 8th (S. Shalev et al.)

One at Zohar reservoir, on the 25th (Y. Schawrtz). 2nd ever summer record. Also there a male Montague's Harrier

Two at the north beach on the 29th (I. Shani) 

 

Arabian Dunn's Lark Eremalauda dunni 

Five reported at Sheizaf reserve on the 27th (S. Zimin) 

 

Penduline Tit Remiz pendulinus

Good activity north to Maayan Zvi including one fledgling on the 29th (Y. Kiat). Still could be birds that bread in Lebanon. Breeding not yet proven in Israel.
