Long-legged Buzzard

 Long-legged Buzzards

The Israel Nestcam project is a cooperation of the Society for the Protection of Nature in Israel (SPNI), The Nature and Parks Authority (NPA), Hoopoe Foundation, The IDF, Kfar Etzion Field School and researcher Guilad Friedemann.

For the fourth time in Israel we invite you to get "up close and personal" with a pair of Long legged Buzzards nesting somewhere in the wilderness of Israel.

Long legged Buzzard - Buteo rufinus is a beautiful, large bird of prey that breeds throughout most of the country. Despite being fairly common, Long-legged Buzzards are rather shy and gentle raptors… till you mess with them.

Using a special online, HD camera and the latest Nestcam technology you can now follow the Long-legged Buzzard family 24 hours a day, 7 days a week from your computer or phone!

The broadcast will follow the whole nesting season (till late may) from incubation through hatching of the chicks and till the last of the young will fledge.

Besides the live feed the Long-legged Buzzard team will post regular updates, highlight clips and articles about these fascinating birds.

We wish our Buzzards A successful breeding season

This project required months of preparation, permits and supervision. All necessary permits were obtained as required by law! Birds of prey are very sensitive to any disturbance during the nesting season!

Please keep your distance from breeding raptors. Disturbing the birds during this time may lead to the adults abandoning the nest, and it is against the law.
